Chaos, Corruption and Cruelty: This is About Us
This isn't about Kilmar Abrego Garcia. . . it's about us.
Each week, we chronicle the chaotic, corrupt, and cruel actions of Donald Trump and his administration. Here is what happened this week:
A quick plea. MurMur remains free because understanding our current political crisis is vital. Chaos: A Fox News Weekend Anchor Breaks the Pentagon
Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has allegedly shared sensitive military information on Signal. Déjà vu? Yes. These new leaks are in addition to the time he shared classified info with a reporter on Signal. You know, just another day in MAGA foreign policy.
This time, Hegseth reportedly created a Signal group himself and used it to share details about a planned U.S. strike on Yemeni Houthi rebels. The group included his wife, his brother, and about a dozen other people—some of whom don’t even work for the government and have zero security clearance.
The result? A full-blown meltdown inside the Pentagon. Some senior officials are now openly calling for Hegseth’s resignation. Even John Ullyot, a former Trump-era Pentagon spokesperson, wrote a scathing Politico op-ed saying Hegseth should go:
“It’s been a month of total chaos at the Pentagon. From leaks of sensitive operational plans to mass firings, the dysfunction is now a major distraction for the president – who deserves better from his senior leadership.”
Turns out appointing a weekend Fox News host—who has no experience running large organizations and a personal history that includes alcoholism and sexual assault allegations—to lead the largest bureaucracy in the federal government was a bad idea. Who could’ve guessed?
Hegseth may be forced to resign. But the accountability shouldn’t stop with him. Donald Trump nominated him. And Senate Republicans, many of whom publicly expressed concerns about his qualifications, still voted to confirm him.
Here’s the bottom line: Senate Republicans completely abdicated their constitutional duty. They confirmed a man they knew was unfit. The result? Compromised national security, chaos inside the Pentagon, and real-world risks to American military operations.
Corruption: DOJ Prosecutors Resign Over Eric Adams Case
Three federal prosecutors have resigned after refusing to drop corruption charges against New York City Mayor Eric Adams—citing political pressure from the Department of Justice.
Celia V. Cohen, Andrew Rohrbach, and Derek Wikstrom stepped down after they were reportedly told they had to admit they mishandled the case in order to return to work. Their real “crime”? Objecting to the DOJ’s sudden push to dismiss the case against Adams.
Why the rush to make it all go away? According to reporting, the Trump DOJ was trying to cut a deal: clear Adams in exchange for his public support of the administration’s immigration policies. Yes, that’s right—freedom for political loyalty.
Here’s the bottom line: The Trump administration is treating the Department of Justice like a political fixer shop. They offered Eric Adams legal protection in return for helping their immigration agenda. And they’re punishing the lawyers who stood up for the rule of law—while rewarding those loyal to Trump. That’s not just corrupt. That’s dangerous.
Bonus Corruption: Trump sells access to the White House
Donald Trump is selling access to himself and the White House—literally. Yesterday, he announced an exclusive gala dinner for the top 220 holders of his scam meme coin, $TRUMP.
Not a raffle. Not a random drawing. This is pay-to-play, plain and simple. The more you spend, the closer you get to the president.
And here’s the kicker: Trump owns 80% of the coin supply and profits from every transaction. So the higher the coin’s value, the richer he gets.
After the announcement, the coin surged 60% in just a few hours.
The Presidency is officially for sale.
Cruelty: They Want All Immigrants Gone
A Maryland father, wrongly deported and locked in an El Salvador gulag, and the administration still refuses to bring him back.
A Venezuelan man, deported from Texas in March. ICE now claims they don’t know where he is.
A 19-year-old U.S. citizen from New Mexico, detained by Customs and Border Protection for not having an ID. He was held for 10 days—because, according to ICE, he "confessed" to being from Mexico. He has intellectual disabilities and can’t read or write.
And now, a Russian-born biomedical researcher at Harvard Medical School has spent two months in ICE detention—for failing to properly declare frog embryos. Normally, that’s a $500 fine. But this time? CBP canceled her research visa, jailed her, and launched expedited removal proceedings.
She's not just any researcher. She's a critical part of a team developing technology to identify cancer cells earlier. She's also an outspoken critic of Putin and the war in Ukraine. If deported, she could be imprisoned—or worse.
None of this makes us safer. None of this secures the border.
This isn’t about stopping dangerous criminals from entering the country. It’s about cruelty, plain and simple. And the violations of due process at the heart of these cases—especially Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s—cut deeper than any individual story.
This isn’t just about him. This is about us.
It’s about the founding principle of this country: if the government wants to take your freedom, it has to prove its case in front of an independent judge or jury.
And let me be clear: I don’t say this as a writer or strategist—I say this as a Democratic primary voter. Any politician who can’t summon the moral clarity to speak out against this—right now—isn’t qualified to be president. And maybe isn’t qualified to hold public office at all.
We should all be watching. Watching who’s speaking up—and who’s still sitting on the sidelines, waiting to see where the political winds blow.
Because the ones who are speaking up? They’re the ones who deserve our support.

I think a correction is necessary. Pete Hegseth is Secretary of Defense, not State.
I’ve been watching. There are very few on either side speaking out. I have no faith in almost all of Congress. It appears they are only for themselves (cowards are that way) and not for those they were elected to represent. It is up to Us to stand up together.
