What really strikes me is how the Binance pardon fits into all of this. Like they literally pleaded guilty to procesing transactions for Hamas and ISIS, paid over 4 billion in penalties, and then boom pardoned right after doing a deal with Trump's crypto company. The entire system of accountability just vanishes when there's money involved. And meanwhile we've got George Retes, an actual veteran and citizen, detained for days and he'll probaly never see a dime while Trump might get 230 million from the same goverment that wronged both of them. The contrast couldn't be clearer.

This is all dismal news even though we need to know it. All we have left is ourselves. As Timothy Snyder says, there is no going back. There is only us joining together and trying to overcome what we can. As far as I can see there are no real surprises here. Although I will say the sudden destruction of the entire East Wing in the blink of an eye made me catch my breath in horror and sadness. We have to find our way forward against all the odds. I’m not giving up although I see clearly where we are now. Thank you for what you do.

Thank you for reading and commenting. The destruction of the East Wing, albeit not the most significant thing Trump has destroyed in his 2nd term, provides a such a clear visual representation of his presidency that it is startling. Visuals matter. This is why dictators build monuments to themselves; they understand the impact of symbolism.
